FAQ's
Here to answer any burning questions I get asked frequently!
How long does is take you to make your pieces?
Fibre Art Dioramas - Most of my displays take about a 2-3 weeks in average. Pieces like the toad have taken me the best part of 4 weeks. It just all depends on their size and intricacy.
Framed Pieces - My framed pieces can take be about a week to complete, depending on size and the amount of detail I add. I like to keep the focus on the insect, so my backgrounds are rather plan. However future pieces will have more detailed backgrounds.
How did I become a Fibre Artist?
From a young age I have always loved Art and animals. I was always happiest watching nature documentaries than cartoons.
I started collecting DIY kits and enjoyed learning technics that my mother taught me from her dabbling. At the age of 12 started painting butteries on cardboard and putting them in jam jars, glued to sticks. A few years later I started learning to needle felt and realising I could create incredibly detailed animals from such a simple material. I then started to add more and more crafts and techniques together until those little cardboard butterflies turned into what you see today.
What is your background?
I studies Fashion and Textiles as a diploma instead of doing my A-Levels. I then went on to do a Degree in Costume and Props. Which I still enjoy as I help with my local amateur theatre as a volunteer costume, puppets and props maker. I also love to perform myself within the theatre, as ensemble and in their Singing group.
